About the role
We are looking for an experienced Operations Engineer to join our team at Catalyst. You’ll be part of a team that provides support, maintenance, and architecture services. The work is varied, so you might be working on different projects, both internal and with clients, as well as providing general systems support.
You’ll get to work with tools like Puppet, Ansible, Terraform, Kubernetes, LXC, Docker, KVM, and Proxmox. If you’ve used these or similar open-source technologies, we’d love to talk to you! Our team is based across Aotearoa, so whether you want to work from home, from one of our offices, or a mix of both, we’re happy to find a flexible solution that works for you and your whanau.
About you
You’ll be someone who loves learning new things, enjoys working in a team, and can stay organised in a fast-paced, busy environment. The key skills we’re looking for are:
- Experience deploying and managing open-source operating systems, web services, databases, caches, message queues, and monitoring systems.
- Skills in troubleshooting issues across the full tech stack, from low-level operating systems and internal networking to application performance and connectivity.
- Experience in keeping systems secure, including applying patches and ensuring security standards are up to date.
- Experience in designing and configuring systems for high availability, scalability, and reliability.
- Knowledge of tools like configuration management, monitoring systems, code repositories, and continuous integration.
