About the role

We're looking for an Operations Engineer who enjoys variety, learning and teamwork. At Catalyst, you'll help create and maintain the systems that make a real difference for our clients, our teams and the open source community. You'll work with a range of tools such as Kubernetes, Terraform, Ansible and Puppet with opportunities to explore new technologies and contribute to how we improve our infrastructure and delivery practices.

If you’ve worked with these or similar open-source technologies, we’d love to hear you! Our Operations team is based across Aotearoa, and we support flexible working so you can choose what balance of home and office works best for you and your whānau.

About you

You might come from a  systems administration or DevOps background, or perhaps you've grown your skills through self directed projects or open source contributions. We value your curiosity, problem-solving approach, and collaborative mindset. 

The key things we’re looking for are:

  • Experience with Linux and open source technologies
  • Ability to maintain and improve systems that support our clients and internal projects, ensuring reliability and security.
  • Experience designing and implementing secure, scalable, and reliable systems using tools like Kubernetes, Terraform, Ansible and Puppet.
  • Confidence troubleshooting issues across the full tech stack; from operating systems and networking to application performance.
  • Willingness to collaborate with teams across Aotearoa, sharing knowledge and supporting open-source ways of working.
